Taking a step back from the game development, but to look at the graphic side of things. For one does not want to play a game if it does not look good too. Though in the last five years video games have soared into coming HD. Unfortunately this can easily lead into the
uncanny valley of the graphic department.

What is this uncanny valley that you are talking about?
Oh, you don't know about the uncanny valley. The uncanny valley is a point on a graph that is to show how people like the graphics of something, and at one point the people just plain hate them at one point then love them after that. This is the uncanny valley.
Here is a video that will help explain it better.
Hey, where is that video that you said there be.
Take a look at the home page of this blog.
If a game that is so hard to get things to look photorealistic graphics are so hard then why do so?
Lets just think about the human face for a moment shale we. The think about a persons face is that there is all of these different tiny movements that go on without a person really noticing. But when we try to capture all of them we tend to miss quite a few of them. This makes getting things to a photoreal state hard, even more so when the figure is in movement. That is only just the face remember. This is not counting on the hair, body, clothes, ect. Into account for just one person, now immagen doing all that plus everything else to the point of it looking like the real thing. Hard right, well that is to make the whole enviroment much more beliveable for us gamers.
So they do it to get a more emotional rise from us, because it would look like we were really part of the action.
