Game Design
Remember here people that a video game, is just that a game. So I highly recommend that you start making up some games that can be tried out at your home, first and furthermost. These games that you make up can be made of physical stuff that you have around the house. This is just to help get an idea of what a game is all about.

How does making a game help with making a video game?
By making a game you start asking the important questions that are involved with the game that you make. Take for example: what is the goal of the game? This is taking in the fact that people like to have a goal to reach to, but not every game has a defined goal to work to.

That is a good question, but in a game these questions are not set in stone but are guild lines.
What is my target audience?
What are the components for the game?
How does the player make progress?
What type of game is it?
What are the rules for this game?
These are a few of the questions that are asked when making a game.
Gee, it seems like that there are no rules for making a game. Doesn't that make making a game pointless?
Actually, the making up rules for a game is a challenge for making a game. Although, the rules for the game is what makes a game challenging for the player, and fun for them too. For it is the rules of a game that help shape up the game for the player.
